Funding For Your Business

Pace Equity specialises in advising and guiding management teams through the challenging process of fundraising. Our team of skilled and experienced advisors has successfully raised funds for acquisitions, organic growth and to allow shareholders to realise some of their equity.

We have built an enviable network of relationships with key private and institutional investors (banks, private equity firms, family offices and high net-worth individuals) and work with clients to build the business case and present the opportunity to appropriate funders.

Typically, our fundraising service follows these steps:

  • Discuss various funding options and potential deal structures
  • Build on the business case including business plan and financial model
  • Approach a selection of appropriate funders for preliminary discussions on the opportunity
  • Provide funders with the business plan and financial model
  • Assist with the pitch to interested funders including preparing the management team
  • Negotiate appropriate terms with the preferred funder
  • Project manage the due diligence through to completion of the transaction
  • Assist where required post transaction with the ongoing client/funder relationship

Funding Secured for Zest

Zest was set up to meet the burgeoning demand for healthy drink and snack alternatives to the overheated coffee and sandwich bar markets. The company achieved outstanding entrepreneurial growth in its first two years but needed institutional funding to reach its stretching growth targets. Sarah Carter, MD said “We knew funding would be difficult due to our size and the relatively untested nature of the market. We are at the leading edge of our market and we needed help and advice from a specialist company that could guide us through the process. We are delighted with Pace Equity’s achievement in placing the funding, with the valuation achieved and the relationship that we have forged with our new investor partners, Chrysalis Ventures.” The deal will give Zest the opportunity to secure a number of new sites in key locations and build on its position as the pre-eminent and most rapidly growing juice bar chain in the UK today. Ken Graham of Pace Equity commented “We were thrilled to play our part in the growth of this exciting new company and were most impressed with the passion and enthusiasm of the management duo of Sarah Carter and Ewan Tilbe. We look forward to a long working relationship supporting their growth into the future, as Pace Equity has over many years, with a significant number of our highly valued clients.”   www.zestjuice.com...

MBO of Budelpack March

Pace Equity was introduced to the management of Budelpack March Ltd the UK based subsidiary of Budelpack International BV, a Dutch contract manufacturing and packing group. The management team had recently effected a turnaround in the performance of Budelpack March but were concerned about the future viability of the parent company. The management team asked us to review their options with regard to a potential MBO either from the parent company or an administrator, if the parent company was forced into administration. In such circumstances the UK subsidiary would also be subject to an administration order as the parent ran a central treasury system. By mid January it became obvious the administration route was the only outcome and therefore we considered the funding options available to the management team which included Asset Based Lending, Invoice Discounting, Cashflow Lending and an Equity Investment. With the timescale constraints and the market conditions attached to asset finance, it was concluded that an equity investment was the preferred option. We introduced a private investor who bought into the sector and the management’s medium term plan for the company. There was significant interest in the opportunity when an Administrator was appointed at Budelpack March in February. After a competitive process, the management team, via March Foods Ltd, completed the deal with the backing of the private investor. None of the 140 jobs were lost and all the customers were retained and are very supportive of the management going forward. March Foods is well funded with a clear vision for its future development. Paul Cope, the Managing Director of March Foods, said “Without Pace Equity’s involvement I am extremely doubtful that we would have been able to find such an elegant solution to our funding challenge in the time available and the uniquely difficult financial market conditions. All at March Foods are very appreciative of the support provided by Pace Equity.” www.budelpack.com...
