Ecommerce Sector Acquisition

Acquisition of Ascott Smallholding Supplies Ltd

When the former director of a garden centre business decided to search for a business to acquire that matched his expertise in marketing, retail and ecommerce, Pace Equity was retained to assist with the search and advise on the acquisition process.

Our first task was to work with our client to refine and enhance his search criteria and build a structured and focused acquisition brief that would produce the right results within a finite timeframe, budget and geographic spread. Once that was achieved the Pace Equity research team swung into action utilising its wide-ranging research capabilities, databases and network to identify viable opportunities that would deliver the key objectives set. Within a two month period, the research team was able to present a shortlist of companies for serious consideration.

Ascott Smallholding Supplies Ltd ticked a number of boxes for our client and was already on the market. Pace Equity provided comprehensive advice and assistance on valuation, the structure of the offer and negotiation, playing a key role in negotiating the deal finally accepted by both parties. Following the signing of Heads of Terms, Pace Equity project managed the entire transaction. Working closely with the legal advisors and the financial due diligence team, we helped solve a range of issues arising and also ensured that the relatively tight target completion date was met.

Mark Self – acquirer of Ascott Smallholding Supplies wrote: “Many thanks for your help in buying Ascotts – the deal would not have happened without it”.
